 | Coaching Clinic Type: Goalkeeping Special Topics Dates: 11/21/2009 Times: 9:00 am-4:00 pm Location: Uihlein Soccer Park (7101 W Good Hope Rd, Milwaukee, WI 53223) Clinician: Jim Launder Course Information: Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association offers coaching courses for its member coaches to aid and promote the development of the game. We feel that “it is the duty of every coach to do the best job they possibly can to create the most favorable environment and experience for their youth players.” At this time, the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association is pleased to offer a Goalkeeping Special Topics course on Saturday, November 21st at Uihlein Soccer Park.
The overall objective of this special topics course is to explore some of the myths and mystiques surrounding the goalkeeping function and to create an optimal learning environment for this specialized position. The six-hour course is directed towards the team coach – not the specialist goalkeeper coach. The course will consist of two special topics sessions, Training Goalkeepers with the Team, and Training Goalkeepers to deal with Crossing Situations.
TRAINING GOALKEEPERS WITH THE TEAM: The object of this session is to empower the coach with knowledge and practice methods that will enable the coach to evaluate a goalkeeper in game situations and then design an appropriate practice program for goalkeepers inside of team practices. This presentation is a field (practical) session and is targeted toward coaches working with the U10/11 and U13/14 age groups.
TRAINING GOALKEEPERS TO DEAL WITH CROSSING SITUATIONS: The object of this session is to use technical training through team play to replicate realistic and functional match situations. This presentation includes both lecture (theory) and field (practical) sessions and is targeted toward the U16/17 age group coach.
